11 years 4 monthsHey, I'm Bas and I am an independent test automation professional.
I have been in the test automation and service virtualization field for about 12 years now, helping teams and organizations improve their testing efforts through smart application of tools.
I am also a regular trainer, writer and speaker on various topics related to testing and automation.
I live in Amersfoort, The Netherlands, together with my wife and two sons. When I am not at work, I like to go for a run, read a good book (I am quite partial to British detective novels by the likes of Elizabeth George and Deborah Crombie), listen to (mostly classical) music and/or enjoy a good glass of white wine.

6 Steps for Succeeding with Test Automation in AgileLots of test automation efforts in agile software development fail, or at least do not maximize their potential. This article looks at two main reasons test automation may not live up to the expectations that testers and other stakeholders in the agile development process have, then outlines six steps to avoid falling into these traps. Here's how to succeed with test automation in an agile environment. |

Start Trusting Your Test Automation AgainThe more you rely on feedback from your automated tests, the more you need to be able to rely on the quality and defect-detection power of these tests. Unfortunately, instead of being the stable and reliable guardians of application quality they should be, automated tests regularly are a source of deceit, frustration, and confusion. Here's how you can start trusting your automated tests again. |

5 Pillars of a Successful Test Automation ImplementationDiscussions on what constitutes a “proper implementation” of test automation often focus on what tool you should use, but that is only one part of the equation. Bas Djikstra details four other things you should consider, how they contribute to the success of your test automation, and what risks are associated with failing to pay proper attention to each of them. |

Leverage Containers to Create Simulated Test Environments on DemandAdopting service virtualization can allow organizations to achieve more effective software development and testing by removing traditional test environment bottlenecks. Integrating service virtualization within the continuous delivery pipeline using containerization helps teams reach the level of flexibility required by today's competitive markets. |

4 Ways to Boost Your Test Process with Service Virtualization One of the major challenges in software development is ensuring that all the software components needed to do integration and end-to-end testing are available in the test environment. Implementing service virtualization can remove environment setup as a blocking condition—and enable project teams to release better software, faster. |
