He also discusses running the Test Lab at STARWEST, where conference attendees can practice their QA skills together to solve puzzles and test code. This year there were new AI features and an Automation Zone, where participants got hands-on experience with automation.

Matt Grasberger, a software consultant with Coveros, talks about how security testing is often put off in the development lifecycle until risks are so embedded that it’s a massive undertaking to fix them. Matt highlights two tools that can be used to automate security testing early in the development lifecycle and gives some resources for requirements that you should have as a baseline for your security testing.

She explains why the team leader has to understand what motivates each individual and how to get them excited about their job. Melissa says team members also have to realize that if they are in any way involved in testing software, they are a technologist, so they have to embrace the tools and technology that will continuously improve and streamline repetitive tasks.

Greg Paskal, test automation lead at Ramsey Solutions, talks about data lakes and how to effectively use data visualization. Done well, data visualization should help practitioners, managers, and stakeholders easily consume, understand, and act on the information the visual displays.
