I'm not sure where you are located and what the market is like in that area. Offhand, I'd say that testing is much easier to get back into that some other technical fields - you can learn most of the technology pretty quick. My advice would be to use linkedin and facebook to find the people you used to work with. Find a time to meet with them and ask their advice - both what skills are relevant in your area and what opportunities they know of. Get them to help you polish your resume. Ask if they will help in your job search. They might not know of an opening, but they might know someone who does - or that person might know someone who does. Repeat until you find something.

Of course along the way you can use the newspaper, monster.com, and other sites to look for work.

good luck!

In addition to Matthew's good suggestions, you could always complete the ISQTB Foundation Tester Course.

It will help with key concepts and terminology and it's the most widely recognized testing course.

good luck!

Hi,

I would like to ask you why do you want to move into testing? Is it because of someone else's advice or you feel it will be easier ?

You have 4 years of experience in Oracle apps (I am assuming development here). Why dont you utilize that? Just enhance and brush up on that. Maybe a short course\certification that could justify and show recruiters your skill. I say this because with testing you are going to be a true beginner.

Incase you are interested in Testing, I suggest you take up some course which would again help display your interest to your possible recruiters. As suggested, you could do the ISTQB certification. Learning any scripting language and any one automation tool will add brownie points given your development background.

Thanks,

Catherine.
