I suggest that a way to differentiate yourself is to become an expert in software quality. Perhaps something like the CSQE certification. This training will help you in so many ways. Specifically, you will become better at seeing the larger picture enabling you to; assess risk better, design better test strategies, more clearly see areas for process improvement and provide you with many tools to help you better analyze the problems you encounter during your job duties. This will make you the go to person when difficult problems arise and will gain you notarity for the quality of your work. Not to mention that your new skills will likely save your company a lot of money.
There are many many testers out there. Not enough good software quailty analysts.
